If you are traveling to Chicago by air…

O’Hare International Airport is located on the northwest side of Chicago and almost all major airlines, except for Southwest Airlines, operate flights in and out of the airport. Downtown Chicago is reachable by both car (Lyft or Uber) and train (CTA Blue Line). The cost of the Blue Line from O’Hare to Downtown is $5 and will take approximately 45-60 minutes. Exit the Blue Line at the Clark/Lake Station and The Godfrey is a 15 minute walk from the station due north on either Clark Street or LaSalle Street.

Midway International Airport is located on the southwest side of Chicago and is primarily served by Southwest Airlines. Downtown Chicago is accessible by both car (Lyft or Uber) and train (CTA Orange Line). The cost of the Orange Line from Midway to Downtown is $2.50 and takes approximately 25-30 minutes. Exit the Orange Line at the Clark/Lake Station and The Godfrey is a 15 minute walk from the station due north on either Clark Street or LaSalle Street.

If you are traveling to Chicago by train...

Looking to avoid the bustle of traffic? Amtrak offers daily train service from both Central Illinois and Northern Ohio. Trains arrive/depart Chicago from Union Station located at 225 S. Canal Street. The Godfrey is a quick 10 minute Lyft/Uber ride away. Additional information, along with schedules and ticket prices, can be found at www.amtrak.com.

Parking at The Godfrey

The Godfrey offers both valet and self-parking options. Valet parking costs $60/night per vehicle and offers unlimited in/out privileges. To valet your vehicle during your stay, please pull-up to the front entrance of the hotel located at 127 W. Huron Street, Chicago, IL, 60654. Alternatively, the self-parking lot can be accessed on the west side of the hotel at 681 N. LaSalle Street, Chicago, IL, 60654. Self-parking costs $46/night per vehicle but does not offer in/out privileges (save $10 or more by reserving your parking spot through SpotHero – see below for more information!).

In addition to the above parking options, SpotHero (https://spothero.com) is a Chicago-based company that helps drivers easily find affordable parking. Reservations can be made through their website or by downloading their app in either the iOS App Store for iPhone or Google Play Store for Androids. At the time of writing, the following parking lots offered affordable choices (please note that none of these garages allow in/out privileges):

681 N. LaSalle Street - $35/day
(this is the self-parking lot located at The Godfrey, but more affordable through the app!)

671 N. Clark Street - $26/day

750 N. Dearborn Street - $22/day

673 N. Franklin Street - $20/day

wedding day

Traveling to Artifact Events

If you find yourself traveling to Artifact Events in your own car, the venue is located at 4325 N. Ravenswood Ave. Allow approximately 25-30 minutes to travel from The Godfrey to Artifact Events. Once you arrive at Artifact Events, there is ample free street parking directly outside of the venue along Ravenswood Ave.

For those feeling more adventurous the morning of our wedding, you can also take public transportation to Artifact Events from The Godfrey. Head northwest from the hotel to arrive at the Chicago Brown Line station. Be sure to head in the direction of Kimball (northbound) when you arrive at the station. Stay on the train until you get to the Montrose Brown Line station. Artifact Events is a 5 minute walk from the station. Total travel time should be approximately 40-45 minutes and the train fare is $2.50.

using uber or lyft

How to use Lyft/Uber

Both the Lyft and Uber apps are available for iPhone and Android smartphones. Use your phone to go to your app store (the iOS App Store for iPhone and Google Play Store for Androids). Once there, search for either app and then install the app on your phone. Once you have opened the app, you’ll need your phone number, email address, and credit/debit card to finish setting up your account/profile.

To request a ride, just enter your destination when you are in either app. Both apps will calculate the total cost of the trip. Be sure to select either the Lyft Economy or UberX for the most affordable option in either app. Lyft Line or Uber Pool will group you with other people being picked up or dropped off along your route, which is more affordable, but could take significantly longer. Larger groups (up to 6 people) may want to consider selecting either Lyft XL or Uber XL. At the completion of a ride, payment is automatically made by charging the card associated with your profile. There is no need to have any cash on hand when riding with Lyft or Uber. If you feel so compelled, you can even tip your driver using the app!
